Agave of Doom

Agave of doom 04.14.10
My neighbor hates this century plant, because he’s afraid some crazy kid like mine will impale herself on it.

The good news is that it should soon die because this agave is about to flower. (Note the tall spike coming out of the lower photo.) Of course, I left out one little detail: a million baby Ginsu-like plants will soon be born.

The tree stealing the show from behind the agave is a sweet or Arizona acacia. A lot of people hate these trees because they sucker, drop a ton of little and have nasty sharp thorns. They do have a nice perfume scent while in bloom.
