U.S. is the only truly socialism country in the world rather than China. Let the greedy crooks pay for what they have done not taxpayers.

Paulson is fascist like Bush, like Obama, like Clinton, like McCain. Welcome to bank dictatorship, the first democratically elected dictatorship.

I'm a renter because I can't even afford to buy a home. If the government can give $700B to Wall Street and, if the Dems have their way, help to homeowners, when do I -- a renter -- get my slice of the turkey???

Simply put... this is wrong. The camel (tax payer) can only take so much before you break the back. Our rich politicians clearly see things through a different lens.

great blog.

This is wrong on so many levels. Another Bush "masterpiece" to swindle the hearts and minds of the American citizens.

I thought all budgetary spending had to be created in the HOUSE, not Bush's office? Why is Paulson doing this and not our elected leaders? Is it because they would never come up with something this outlandish and CRAZY? Something so blatantly obvious a rip-off of the people of the US?

This has GOT to be stopped. I have not seen ANY positive mention of this alleged plan anywhere except a right-wing market magazine. Are we really a bunch of "whiners" or are we starting to WAKE UP and see that we've got some bad people running and ruining our government???

The reason no one remembers the hundreds of billions of dollars of seized property from Savings & Loans listed for sale by the RTC is because it never happened.

The greatest wealth transfer in recent history happened when taxpayer money was used to liquidate S&L properties which were then “sold” to well-connected insiders in transactions immune from criminal prosecution for literally pennies on the dollar.

The soon-to-be owned bank assets under Paulson’s plan will not be sold to the highest bidders in an open and fair auction, they will be disposed of again to pools of the wealthy and well-connected at highly discounted insider valuations. The people will pay, the rich will profit.

Fax your Senators people, this will be the biggest transfer of wealth in history (away from you!).

Letter to Creditors: Dear sir or Madam, I can no longer pay my bills. I have made a few bad investments and now I just can't pay. So I am waiting for my bail out check to fix everything. As soon as I get my check I will send you the amount I owe. Of course, if you get bailed out first, then please apply said amount to my account immediately.

Thanks,
Another troubled American
