Phew. Our doctor seems to think the red blotches all over Lael was caused by an allergic reaction to the polyester hand-me-down outfit she wore last night. Or it might have been the hypoallergenic lotion my wife had rubbed on her. It certainly beats rare tropical disease or creepy crawly bacteria infections.
I would be completely relieved, except that the words “hives,” “lungs” and “asthma” were used in the same sentence. Apparently, there is a small risk of the blotches being on the inside as well as the outside, which could result in asthma. Argggh.
But I’m not too worried for this reason: I neglected to mention in my earlier post that I have one other allergy – polyester. It turns my skin bright red. I didn’t make the connection because the rash I get looks different. Interestingly, Seth doesn’t react well to polyester, either.
In the meantime, the doctor said to expect the splotches to appear on and off for the next couple weeks. We’re only to feed her breast milk and the three solid foods she already eats: rice cereal, oat cereal and mashed banana.
Lael was already scheduled for a Friday doctor’s visit, so my wife will bring her back then. If everything is okay, Lael gets more immunizations.
Our poor girl. And my poor frazzled wife. And poor Seth, who was picked on by a kid in the waiting room.

Oh, also it could be a virus masquerading as an allergy, such as the flu. Forgot to mention that one.

First time I discovered I was allergic to laundry detergent was when I had the flu. Turns out you're more susceptible while sick.

Glad to hear things are optimistic! I've come to learn that, as a father, things are never 'okay'. It's just varying degrees of worry.

Best of luck with this one. I hope it keeps on being just a minor annoyance.
I hate the thought of my Lemon getting sick. She's a couple of weeks away from being born and although I'm looking forward to meeting her, I like that she's safe where she is now...

Yes, I agree that once the baby is out, you kinda think, "Why did you come out here? It's not safe out here. Go back in." Of course your wife will say, "Over my dead body."
Don't worry, it's one heck of a ride once you have a baby in the house and you will love it. (Probably.)

These allergic reactions are fatal, my 3 year old son was very similar way, thank god we got a very good and the cream could be retrieved, but still do not know who caused this problem, it's good to share this information because there are young parents in this area and often do not know what to do in moments of these ...
